[Question] MBX-AD12N Magic N100, BIOS Product Name changed after flash (R120 → R100)

Hello,

I recently bought a fanless N100 mini PC (sold as “Magic Computer”) on AliExpress, not directly from CWWK.

The top logo says “Network Attached Storage”, not CWWK.


Original BIOS (before flashing):

  • Product Name: MBX-AD12NR120
  • BIOS Name: 6098003
  • Build Date: 2024-01-24 18:14:48



I downloaded and flashed the following BIOS ISO found on the BBS: CW-MBX-AD12-RN100(Magic双网N100-N200-I3-N305-出厂默认原始版本)2024.08.26.iso

After flashing successfully, now the BIOS shows:

  • Product Name: MBX-AD12NR100
  • BIOS Name: 6083007
  • Build Date: 2024-08-26 16:08:02


My questions

  1. Is it normal that the product name changed from MBX-AD12NR120 → MBX-AD12NR100 after flashing this BIOS? (Did I lose any functionality or is this just a unified CWWK BIOS version?)
  2. Can someone confirm whether this 6083007 (R100) BIOS is the correct / latest version for my board?
  3. If there’s a newer or more stable BIOS available, can you please share the official download link or ISO filename?
  4. Are there any known issues with using this BIOS on this hardware revision?


Additional info

  • The motherboard has marking CW-MBX-AD12N-1#B
  • Configuration: Intel N100, 2x LAN, 2x HDMI, 1x M.2 NVMe, 2x SATA

    I can't find any info in https://drive.x86pi.com/ about this board/minipc "magic"

    and I can't access https://pan.changwang.com/ because I get the error:

    from the pdf here I see that the motherboard is the same, the only difference is the case. Is it correct?

    There is a motherboard version number on the back of the motherboard. You should flash the correct version number for the motherboard to work properly. You can provide this information. I will tell you how to obtain the correct BIOS firmware.

    Thanks for your response. I've just removed the heatsink and I confirm that the motherboard model is MBX-AD12NR120.


    I still can't access the Chinese site (https://pan.changwang.com/), because of the same error. I'm not using any expansion card so I don't need any "lane split" bios.

    Thanks, I've successfully updated the minipc with the provided bios.

    I see that the Product Name is correctly labeled MBX-AD12NR120 and the Bios Name is the same as the original bios I had on the machine (6098003), but the Build Date and Time now is 13 December 2023, the original Bios had 24 January 2024. Not really important just to keep tracks of changes.
